‘Nobody Is Perfect,’ Magoha Regrets

Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magoha has deeply regretted over a recent incident in which he was caught on camera humiliating a senior education officer during a routine school inspection tour of Uasin Gishu County.

Prof. Magoha did not offer a clear apology but urged all public officials to do their jobs effectively.

“I would like to state without any fear of contradiction that in my life, which is not very young and not very old, I have learnt that nobody is perfect. If anybody has seen a perfect person, you should tell me that person. What drives me is practicing Christianity,” he said.

Magoha seemed to be regretting over his irrational behavior and wanted Kenyans to understand him and forgive for him. He said that he is just a human being and is prune to mistakes but people holding certain positions must also get serious with those positions and deliver. “What are you doing in that office if you cannot deliver?” questioned the remorseful Magoha.

Prof. Magoha was having press address at Yumbisye Secondary School in Kitui Central on Friday after inspecting the newly-procured desks.

“But what I want to tell you and those who have seen us elsewhere is that if you have a job to do please ensure that you do it and you do it in a timely manner. Once you have done your best leave the rest to God,” Magoha.

His sentiments come at a time when he is in trouble for publicly insulting Uasin Gishu County Director of Education Gitonga Mbaka.

Prof. Magoha on Friday suffered a blow after he was stripped off his human resource powers by the public service commission over the incident. With no human resource powers, Magoha can only deal with infrastructure and policies at the ministry but cannot hire or fire.
