Makueni KMTC branch was established in March 2014. This was under a joint support programme involving the county government of Makueni and the Board of Directors of KMTC.

The major aim of establishing Makueni KMTC branch was to increase the number of skilled medics in the county and to encourage learners to pursue medical related courses.

Makueni KMTC branch started at the former Wote DC’s headquarters and the farmers’ centre, which formed good accommodation sites for Makueni KMTC branch students after renovation.

Makueni KMTC branch is situated in Wote town, Makueni County, proximal to Makueni County Teaching and Referral Hospital. This hospital is the major clinical site for Makueni KMTC branch students.
