Be Prepared to Gift Teachers, Milemba Tells Ruto

Forget about Being Governor After Endorsing Finance Bill, Milemba Told

Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi has told Emuhaya MP Omboko Millemba he cannot be the governor for Vihiga county after betraying his voters and teachers by voting yes for the Finance bill.

Osotsi said he had hopes in Millemba taking over as the next governor after Governor Wilber Ottichilo’s term has ended, but he has betrayed Vihiga residents at large on that Finance bill.

The lawmaker was speaking at Ebuyalu secondary school where he was meeting teachers, parents and board of Management for primary, secondary and the special school in Emuhaya subcounty over the weekend.

He further said the Emuhaya MP who is also the current Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers chairman at the national level, has gone against the will of the union on housing levy that teachers were against to protect their pay slips.

Ososti said teachers were against the three per cent taxation citing that the cost of living is already to high.

“Millemba was supposed to be the first one to vote against that Finance bill to protect teachers’ pay slip as their leader,” Osotsi said.

“We want leaders who can stand firm with Kenyans whether threatened or not so that we can move ahead and protect our democracy,” Osotsi said.

The lawmaker said the Finance bill won’t help Kenyans at any point, adding that it’s only corruption.

The lawmaker said the current taxation by President William Ruto’s administration is aiming at oppressing Kenyans.

“We can’t be pushed to the edge with taxes in the name of development, which development are going to see yet corruption has dominated the government?” he posed.

Ososti said taxation has been there since the reign of former Presidents Mzee Jomo Kenyatta,  Daniel Moi, Mwai Kibaki and Uhuru Kenyatta but how Ruto’s government is doing, it is oppressing Kenyans.
