How to approve Online teacher transfer requests

With teacher’s service commission determined to make services purely digital, teacher transfers are among the services to pioneer this long-awaited innovation.

Currently, teacher transfer applications and approvals are done online. TSC resorted to this after a study found that teachers undergo a lot in their attempts to get transferred. From difficult to deal with school heads to lots of cash to submit the transfer forms in time, most teachers could give up along the way, yet it is their right to be transferred after meeting the minimum conditions of transfer as prescribe by TSC.

Digital transfer approvals, just like in the paper age, are done by the head of institution through a positive recommendation. In case a teacher wants to transfer to another county, then the TSC county director must also give a recommendation, in line with that given by the head of institution, after which the request is forwarded to TSC headquarters in Nairobi.

Procedure for online teacher transfer request approval

  • Visit the TSC website using your browser. On the tabs at the top of the browser, click on the online services tab.
  • A drop down menu appears with several services. Click HRMIS.
  • From the drop down menu, select teacher transfer.
  • A window appears that prompts you to enter your TSC number, ID number and mobile number. Enter correct details in the given spaces and click log in.
  • A six digit authorization code will be sent through your mobile number. Enter the authorization code and click log in.
  • You are now at the head of institution (HOI) portal. An incoming transfer will be displayed. Click action button to recommend the transfer and enter your comments.
  • Click the submit button once through.

Nb. Sometimes, the head of institution gets transfer requests through the institution emails or HOI portal.

    • hi rutto. thanks for your comment and question.if your transfer request reads ‘not approved,’it means that your request has not been successful since you have failed to meet some mandatory conditions for a successful transfer.

    • hi sheila. transfer with a suitable replacement is a route usually taken by selfish principals to ensure that teachers seeking transfers fail and remain in their stations. it simply means that you the principal has given a condition on your release-that a teacher with your exact combinations must be found to replace. its not easy finding such a teacher.

      • Now I understand why mine was written transfer with suitable candidate yet we are many in my subject combination…

      • My transfer status read recommended with replacement before. I was later faced by a number of challenges that made me convince my head who made some changes in the HOI portal ( Transfer approved). Nothing has been changed. What’s happening?

  1. Mine reads not approved.I wonder why and my employment letter stated that I must serve in the station for 5 yrs.Have worked for 7 years now.I want to move out of this station with over stay being the main reason. Now my transfer is not approved becoz this reason is not sufficient!

    • hi purity. thanks for visiting elimupedia.com. under five years on a transfer request simply means that you have served for less than five years under TSC in your first station. remember you wrote a commitment letter which was binding you for five years

  2. am not able to log into the hrmis teachers portal so as to make my transfer application online. after filling the field for tsc no, id. no. and mobile number it tells me that invalid/unregistered mobile number. what could be the problem
