Kilifi KMTC Branch Background Information
Kilifi KMTC Branch was established in the year 1987 and started operating in the same. The pioneer class had 18 learners pursuing a Medical Engineering course at certificate level. This occurred through a collaborative agreement between the health ministry of the Kenyan government and the International Development Authority of Sweden.
The main objective of establishing Kilifi KMTC Branch was to produce skilled personnel that could help in maintaining and repairing the hospital and the health machines meant for clinical procedures, diagnosis and therapeutic care. This was a national plan, targeting not only hospitals within the coast but all hospitals in the republic of Kenya.
In the year 2006, Kilifi KMTC Branch introduced the Department of Nursing with Kenya enrolled community health nursing as the major diploma course. The pioneer class in this coveted course had only 40 learners.
Kilifi KMTC Branch went ahead to introduce a Diploma course in Clinical Medicine and Surgery during their early intake of the year 2019. In the same year, Kilifi KMTC Branch introduced a Higher Diploma course in Critical Care Nursing.
