KNUT Strongly Defends CS Magoha Over Publicly Insulting a CDE

Knut, through its secretary general Wilson Sossion, has defended CS Magoha, after the latter publicly insulted and kicked out a CDE from his inspection tour. Last week during his inspection tour of Uasin Gishu county, the CS humiliated the area county director of education, Mr. Gitonga.

Through a KNUT statement on making schools safe for learning, Sossion praised Magoha for being strict. Part of the statement read,” schools in the current global covid spike are exempt from lock downs, but should only operate under very strict terms. This where Prof Magoha is a medic enforcing with zeal, including strictly directing his officers.” As per Sossion’s arguments, Magoha as a medic is not happy seeing people break covid-19 health and safety protocols.

Sossion faulted teachers and the general public for demonizing Magoha, who was just in line of his usual duties. “Today, 26 deaths and 1226 new infections, and some fellows are bastardizing and lynching Magoha from ensuring that schools are safe? Let us not treat covid-19 with kid’s gloves! Go! Go prof and sweep off covid in schools and smile with no one.” Posted Sossion in his twitter handle, where he incited Magoha to continue being strict.

The nominated MP made it clear that covid has killed many teachers and therefore professor Magoha is right to be strict on his officers. Sossion’s understanding simply implies that teachers die because education officials are not playing their roles perfectly, especially in making schools safe spots for teachers and learners.

Sossion asked teachers not to engage in matters that do not involve teachers since Magoha never insulted any teacher. “If professor Magoha is reprimanding his own officers at the ministry, why should we bother? As long as teachers are not harassed by the CS which he hasn’t done, interfering with his engagement with his staff when he is reading the riot act is wrong. Education officers are not union members.”

Speaking during a parliamentary committee on education meeting, Sossion asked Magoha to close his ears and make schools safe for learning. He pledged that he is with one hundred percent.

“I don’t pretend, I shall support Kenyans who are working hard to make us safe yet they are being lynched and condemned,” said Sossion.
