KUPPET Vihiga suspends allowances for Union officials
A robbery incident at Kima International School of Theology has forced the branch leadership to suspend allowances for Union officials. During the Annual General Meeting last weekend, the branch Treasurer Mr.Benson Kidundu lost Kshs.510,000 after his car was broken into by unknown people. The matter was reported at Luanda Police Station.
This development forced the branch leadership to secure a loan from the KUPPET National office so as to pay fare refunds for members who attended the function. As investigations got underway, Branch Executive Secretary Sabala Inyeni ordered for the suspension of allowances so as to allow union programs to continue uninterrupted.

“KUPPET VIHIGA runs so many programs which have a huge financial implication on the treasury. For us to continue with these programs, we have no option but to suspend allowances until this money is recovered. I know members will not be happy to hear this, but that is the price you have to pay in leadership”, Sabala said.
The branch spends approximately Kshs.400,000 monthly in allowances to the 18 members of the Branch Governing Council.
