Lowest Earning Teachers In Each Job Group Win Big In New Salary Point Mergers
Teachers at lower salary points in each job group will experience a grand boost in their basic salaries since the teachers’ service commission, TSC, decided to merge various pay scales in each job group into a single pay scale. This would give them a huge increase in their basic salary packages.
In October 2019, TSC had plans to merge CBA salary conversion tables for three phases from 2017-2018.
The final phase of the 2017-2021 CBA started on 1st July 2020 and is expected to end in June 2021. This would pave way for a fresh CBA, which is expected to end in 2025.
The lowest earning chief principal at job group d5 salary point 1, who before the banding with members of salary scale 2 and 3, earned ksh. 121,814, will now earn ksh. 131, 380. This translates to additional ksh. 9,566.

Principals at salary point 5 will now have an additional ksh. 4,719, after being banded with those at salary point 8, 6, and 7.
Senior principals T job group D4 salary point 1, will have an additional salary of ksh. 8,993, after being merged with those in salary points 2 and 3.
Principals and deputy principals 1 at grade D3 scale 13, have all been merged into one salary point with members of salary points 1 and 2. This has boosted the salaries of salary scale 1 and 2 members in the same job group by ksh. 10,794 and ksh. 7,899 respectively.
Deputy Principals ii, senior master 1 and senior lecturer 11 at grade D2 T scale 12 are now in one salary point with a new basic salary of ksh. 91,041 with members of salary point one and 2, who will earn an additional salary of ksh. 8324 and ksh. 3,141, respectively.
