Magoha appoints 14 new officials to head KUCCPS, KLB and NRF

Education CS George Magoha has appointed 14 people, who will be heading different agencies within the education sector.

The officials, who will serve for three years, were appointed through a gazette notice dated July 15.

In the new appointments, Cyrus Gituai will be the new chairperson of the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 4 (1) (a) and (d) of the Education (Board of Governors) Centre for Mathematics, Science and Technology Education in Africa Order, 2006, the Cabinet Secretary for Education appoints— Chairperson: Pius Kimani Mutisya,” the notice reads.

In the Centre for Mathematics, Science and Technology Education in Africa (CEMASTEA), he appointed Ngina Kairu, Brenda Mayabi Nanzala, Peterson Maina to serve as board members for three years.

For the Kenya Literature Bureau, Magoha appointed four members to the board.

The four are Elkana Kathie, Fatuma Hassan, Augusta Muthigani and Judith Ojwang.

Another five officials were selected to join the National Research Fund.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 32 (4) (a), (d), (e) and (f) of the Science, Technology and Innovation Act, 2013, the Cabinet Secretary for Education appoints— Chairperson: Ratemo Michieka,” the notice reads.

Other members appointed to join the  NRF board of trustees are Robert Gateru, Gladys Warirah, Samuel Tirongo and Florah Karanu Karimi.
