Makindu KMTC branch Background Information

Makindu KMTC branch was started towards the end of the year 2015 through a collaborative initiative involving the county executive board of Makueni County Government and the Board of Directors of KMTC.

The very first programme that was conducted at Makindu KMTC branch was a Diploma course in Clinical Medicine, lasting 3 years, with only 45 pioneer students.

In the beginning of March 2016, Makindu KMTC branch introduced a Diploma course in Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing, lasting 3¹/₂ years.

Towards the end of the year 2017, Makindu KMTC branch introduced a course in Orthopedic Plaster at certificate level, lasting 2 years.

Makindu KMTC branch went ahead and introduced another certificate course in early 2019- certificate in Medical Engineering, taking 2 years.

At establishment, Makindu KMTC branch was hosted at the Trauma Centre of Makindu Sub County Hospital, and the county government of Makueni had donated a piece of land measuring 5 acres.

Meanwhile, the county government of Makueni was working behind the clock to construct classrooms for Makindu KMTC branch students, which were ready by mid 2016.

In December 2016, Makindu KMTC branch was commissioned by the president of the republic of Kenya, H.E Uhuru Kenyatta to officially offer medical related courses.
