Murang’a KMTC Branch History
Murang’a KMTC Branch was established in the early 50s at the climax of the colonial regime. The objective of setting up Murang’a KMTC Branch was to offer midwifery so as to reduce the number of still births in the region.
In the early 60s, Murang’a KMTC Branch introduced a certificate course in enrolled nursing. In the year 1977, Murang’a KMTC Branch introduced a course in Enrolled Community Health Nursing to substitute midwifery and enrolled nursing Programmes.
Murang’a KMTC Branch introduced a certificate course in Health records and information Technology in the year 2003. This was immediately followed by its corresponding upgrade diploma course.
In the year 2005, Murang’a KMTC Branch started offering a diploma course in clinical medicine. During the same year, a diploma course in Kenya Registered Nursing was introduced at Murang’a KMTC Branch to substitute community health nursing.
The year 2006 saw Murang’a KMTC Branch start a distance learning programme for inservice Nurses.
A Mental Health Psychiatric course was introduced at Murang’a KMTC Branch in the year 2013.
