List of Primary Schools That Will Host Grade 7 Students

Education Cabinet Secretary Professor George Magoha revealed that the ministry of education has identified 1,500 primary schools which will host grade 7 students in junior secondary schools under CBC and assured that they not only have adequate learning and teaching facilities, but also land for physical expansion.
“Some of these schools will be developed further to have fully-fledged secondary wing in the future. The government wishes to assure all Kenyans and especially learners, parents and teachers that implementation of CBC is on course and that systems and structures for the transition from primary to junior secondary are in place,” assured the CS.

Magoha also maintained that his ministry has consulted and urged private schools especially in urban areas, to set up stand-alone JSS to provide chances for learners to transition from primary to secondary level.

The Cs also gave clarification into the admission of Grade 7 learners to Junior Secondary Schools under the controversial Competency Based Curriculum (CBC).
Yesterday, through a press statement, Magoha explained that JSS will be offered in both boarding and day secondary schools across the country.
“All the existing boarding and day secondary schools, will admit learners transiting from Grade Six to Grade Seven under CBC, based on guidelines to be provided by the ministry,” said Magoha.
