Nairobi KMTC Branch was established in the year 1927 under the Kabete Kenya institute of administration. Nairobi KMTC Branch started with only less than five learners.

In the year 1990, an Act of Parliament made Nairobi KMTC Branch Semi-Autonomous. Four years later, the college was christened Kenya Medical Training College.

It was not until the year 2001 that Nairobi KMTC Branch migrated from the headquarters of KMTC, becoming independent, with its own administrator.

Kenya Medical Training College, KMTC, Bomet branch was established towards the end of the year 2013. This is after the county residents exposed their thirst for medicine related courses. Bomet KMTC Branch started with only one course and very few students but has over time experienced a very rapid growth in infrastructure, student population, space and the number and nature of programmes offered.

Currently, the population of students at Bomet KMTC Branch is 750. The population is projected  to rise sharply in the next admission and structures have been put in place in preparedness for that higher population.
