Teachers who will Handle Junior secondary are available: Magoha
Education cabinet secretary, George Magoha has confirmed that that teachers who will handle the students are available. Magoha, who was speaking at Nyawara girls in Gem sub county, accompanied by Siaya County Director for Education Nelson Sifuna and Siaya County Commissioner Mohammed Bareh, mocked a section of the public who still think that CBC will fail due to lack of teachers.
He also has assured Kenyans that the books and desks used by learners transiting from Primary to Junior Secondary Schools will be ready before September. According to Magoha, education ministry will have put in place systems that would ensure effective transition of pupils to junior secondary schools by September.
“The government is extremely serious about these classrooms so the global picture of having 5400 of them ready by end of March is going to be realized ahead of time,” said Magoha.

Prof. Magoha challenged the contractors doing the construction of CBC classes country-wide to expedite the process so that they beat the deadline.
“I want to challenge the schools to push for the constructions so as to pave way for openings. I would also want to know where the second complete buildings are going to be. I hope it will not be in Nyanza region,” Magoha said.
“By the time exams start in March, we shall have completed the first phase of the projects and it’s the same contractors who will be carried to the second phase and they will start the work towards the end of April when exams are being marked.
“There is a little concern with Mageta island where the transport of water is going to be a bit expensive. We had set aide Ksh788,600 to do each classroom and a lot of them are being done at that level but Mageta seemed to have an extraneous factor,” Magoha said adding that the ministry will quantify the whole project and table it at the headquarters for government to meet the costs.
“So as the President leaves office, the systems favouring the CBC transition would be in place,” he added.
Magoha said that his ministry has started purchasing Grade 6 books which he said will be distributed in schools by the end of March.
“At the training institutions, we have taken the first batch of Diploma teachers and we will continue training the available teachers,” he added.
