Top 10 Universities in Kenya in Openness and Excellence

The University of Nairobi (UoN) has been ranked position 1 in the country in the current ranking done by Web of Universities which ranks universities locally and globally.

The ranking captures the top 100 universities in Kenya and how they are placed globally with respect to openness, impact and excellence.

The prestigious learning institution is closely followed by Kenyatta University (KU) while Egerton University Njoro is placed third.

Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) came 4th while Moi University is positioned at number 5.

Maseno University which is located is placed at position 6 while Strathmore University is ranked at position 7.

The technical university of Kenya is at number 8 while Masinde Muliro University of science and technology is located at position 9.

Kenya forestry research institute is at position 10 hence completing the top rankings.

Other universities in the top 100 include Murang’a University of Technology, United States International University, the University of Embu, Pwani University, and the Catholic University of Eastern Africa.

DayStar University, Dedan Kimathi and Mount Kenya Universities also appear in the top 100 alongside south Eastern University of technology.

Also in the list are Kenya School of Government, Kibabi University, Bomet University college Machakos University, Kabarak University, University of Eldoret, Kisii University, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology and the Great Lakes University in Kisumu.

Globally, the institutions are ranked as follows;

The University of Nairobi is ranked at position 1101, Kenyatta university finds itself at 2151 with Egerton University being placed at position 2429.

JKUAT is ranked at position 2519 while Maseno finds itself at position 2611.

Strathmore is at position 3701 while TUK is ranked at position 3784 followed by Masinde Muliro placed at position 5255 and Kenya Forestry Research Institute at position 5613.

Other middle level colleges have also been placed in the top 100 rankings and they include the Kisumu National Polytechnic, Kenya Water Institute, Kenya Utalii College Nairobi, and Nairobi Technical Training Institute.

The African Institute of Research and Development Studies is not left behind alongside the Kenya Institute of Mass Communications, International Leadership University, Railway Training Institute (Nairobi) and the Kenya Institute of Professional Studies are also featured in the list.
