TSC Advertises 14,000 Teaching vacancies

Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has advertised not less than 14,000 teaching vacancies in primary and secondary schools.

The teachers employer targets to employ 5,000 teachers in support of the 100 per cent primary to secondary school transition policy and also to address existing teacher shortages in primary and secondary schools.

“Interested and qualified candidates should submit their applications online through the TSC’s website not later than July 7,” reads an advert published today.

Of the total vacancies, 3,872 posts are for secondary school teachers, 28 for Teachers Training Colleges (TTCs) and 1,000 for primary school tutors.

Natural attrition Advert

In addition to the 50000 positions, TSC has also advertised 8,230 vacancies to replace teachers who exited service through natural attrition, with 6,539 posts for primary and 1,691 posts for secondary schools.

To qualify for recruitment as a secondary teacher, a candidate should be a Kenyan, holder of at least a diploma in education and must be a registered teacher with TSC.

For Teacher Training Colleges, a candidate must be a Kenyan, must be a holder of at least a Bachelor’s degree in Education and registered with TSC, while primary school teachers must be a holder of P1 certificate.

TSC says the recruitment guidelines for the 2022/2023 Financial Year will apply.

Similarly, the list of shortlisted candidates, interview dates and venues will be published on the TSC’s website by July 15.

“Shortlisted candidates will be required to present original academic and professional certificates. Successful candidates must not fill out more than one application for employment form. Filling out two or more Applications for employment forms will lead to disqualification,” the commission warns in the notice.

Successful candidates will be posted to serve in any part of the country and not necessarily in the county or school where they were interviewed.

TSC also assured that merit lists generated during this recruitment for primary and post-primary institutions will be used in subsequent recruitments within the financial year.
