TSC Confirms that July Slots Will be PNP, not Internship-Current Interns Likely to get confirmed
The teachers’ service commission, TSC has confirmed plans to recruit 5000 additional teachers in two weeks’ time. TSC CEO Nancy Macharia confirmed this during the launch of form one selection results. The same sentiments were posted in Facebook later after the event.
TSC said that treasury allocated the commission ksh. 2.5 billion For recruitment of 5000 teachers in the budget for financial year 2021/2022.
“The national treasury has allocated sh. 2.5 billion for recruitment of 5000 teachers to ease the teachers’ load in handling the increased enrollment. Qualified unemployed and registered teachers to look out for advertisement for applications next month,” reads a social media post by TSC.

Upon enquiry, TSC confirmed that the 5000 slots will be permanent and pensionable and not internship slots. However, both groups of currently serving intern teachers are highly encouraged to apply since they will be awarded additional marks. This does not bar other qualified and registered teachers from applying for the same slots.subject combinations and years of graduation likey to carry the day have also been documented.
For primary teachers, their slots may not be among the 5000 slots set for recruitment since TSC confirmed that it will only recruit secondary school teachers in the next three years. However, primary school applicants should also get ready for application since it is likely that there will be replacement slots for both primary schools and secondary schools, which are separate from the 5000 recruitment slots.
The application portal will be opened once the slots have been advertised. Meanwhile, applicant teachers are encouraged to start organizing their academic documents and non-academic documents usually required by the commission. The applications will be strictly online though interviews will be physical.
