Possible 2020 TSC Internship Interview Questions

TSC extends JSS application Deadline

Teachers Service Commission on Wednesday extended the period of application for deployments to Junior Secondary Schools.

The commission said that the portal has been re-opened and qualified Primary school teachers with requisite qualifications are encouraged to apply.

It has also announced that the application deadline is March 22, 2023.

Last month, the Commission said that 4,000 intern teachers will be hired for primary schools.

Teachers Service Commission CEO Nancy Macharia said teachers who have the requisite qualifications to teach Grade 7 learners will be deployed.

“The mapping process is continuous and verification is still ongoing to identify more teachers to be posted,” Macharia said.

Macharia was speaking when the commission appeared before the National Assembly departmental committee on education and research.

The commission distributed the teachers to different counties based on the number of classes.

Teachers who qualified had to meet a number of requirements to be considered.

“Bachelors in Education, a C plus in KCSE, at least C plus in two teaching subjects in KCSE and at least 8 units in each of the two teaching subjects,” she said.

She clarified that since 2019, the commission has been promoting primary school teachers to teach in secondary schools.

Further, another 30,550 teachers were deployed to every Grade 7 class to teach.

“Each teacher has two subjects and we realized that most of the Grade 7 subjects have a sort of correlation,” she said.

This means, one teacher can teach more than one subject at the JSS level.

In a statement in December, the commission said 10,000 of the teachers will be employed on permanent pensionable terms while 25,550 will be intern teachers.
