Basic Salary Scales of TSC Senior Principals (T-scale 14) and How To Become One

TSC Gives Reasons For Paying Teachers June Salaries Before Mid-Month

Teachers across the country have received a rare treat from their employer, the teachers service commission, after the latter remitted teachers’ salaries in what appears to be the shortest duration in history.

By 4 pm of June 14 2022, at least 95% of banks had credited teachers bank accounts with June salaries, implying that over 98% of the teachers had received their dues. In a record deliberately broken by TSC, the teachers were shocked that the employer who seems to be ‘against’ them all the times had unexpectedly shifted to their goal post. The few teachers who have not received their June salaries are likely to have their accounts credited by June 15 2022, end of business.

A section of teachers have hailed the teachers service commission for the extraordinary speed in processing June pay. However, another section has foreseen looming frustration and disorganization in July, should TSC fail to remit salaries by July 14.

“Why should TSC pay us before midmonth, then make us wait for 47 days before getting our next salary. This is malice and may make most of us frustrated in July if we don’t use this money wisely. Our next pay is likely to be after 28th July, and you can tell how long that is,” lamented a teacher from a famous school in Kisumu County.

Approached by our team to explain the abnormal speed, a source from TSC confirmed that teachers that teachers have received their salaries earlier than usual. The source, which sought anonymity, revealed that TSC wanted to clear it’s 2021/ 2022 budget accounts in readiness for the 2022/2023 budgetary cycle.

“ Since we are starting a new budgetary cycle in July, the commission was determined to clear the accounts in readiness for the 2022/2023 budgetary cycle. By the end of the week, all the employees working with the teachers service commission will have received their salaries. I would however advice teachers and other employees working with us to use their June salaries wisely since July Salaries may come later than Usual, “ revealed a the official through a phone call.
