Heads Who Fail To Validate Teachers’ TPAY accounts Within 30 Days To Be Punished
Heads of institutions who will fail to validate the T-PAY accounts of teachers who serve under them will have to feel the wrath of the teachers’ service commission, TSC.
The commission has confirmed that it is the duty of the heads of institutions to validate the details of their teachers, failure to which, the heads will not access their T-pay accounts. If denied access to T-Pay account, the implication is that one cannot take loans with any financial institution due to inability to submit the latest payslip. Additionally, accessing p9 form to enhance filling of KRA returns can be another hell.
Teachers have 30 days to update their data on TPAY, as part of enhancing security of their information, in line with Data Protection Act 2019.
Teachers Service Commission (TSC) Secretary Nancy Macharia has urged all heads of institutions to verify and approve the profile of teachers under their supervision in a process that started yesterday.
“TPAY validation exercise takes effect from June 9 and will close on July 15,” Macharia says in a circular dated June 8.

She confirmed that heads of institutions who will not have validated details of teachers under their supervision within the stipulated time will not be able to access their TPAY accounts.
So far, only the validation of mobile phone numbers is working since codes can be received through the phone. However, validation of email is a big headache since the codes sent cannot reach teachers’ emails.
A senior TSC ICT officer confirmed that there is a problem with the emails, which will be solved by monday. This means that teachers will validate their emails from monday. However, teachers who have uploaded their photos and validated their phone numbers can access their TPAY accounts.
Profiles for primary school head are to be verified and approved by the Sub County Directors while County Directors will approve for post-primary institutions heads.
To validate the data, teachers are expected to access the payslip page through the TSC website and logging into TPAY.
They are then required to upload a passport photo showing their face, without spectacles or head cover after which they enter and verify their phone numbers.
