Students who meet the qualifications for various KMTC courses and are interested in joining KMTC can do their KMTC applications online any time KMTC invites for such applications.

KMTC online applications are done two times annually, in March and in September for self-sponsored students. The call for applications is usually done through the dailies or KMTC website.

For government sponsored students who would wish to pursue a KMTC course, applications are done through KUCCPS website during the first revision of courses.

To qualify for  diploma courses, one must obtain an overall grade of C at KCSE. For certificate courses, one must get at least a C- while for short courses, one must get at least a D+.

KMTC online applications can be done using a smart phone or a computer connected to the internet.

 Basic pre-application Requirements

• scanned copy of applicant’s ID card or Birth Cert or Passport
• scanned copy of applicant’s secondary school leaving certificate.
• Scanned copy of applicant’s KCSE result slip or certificate
• Not less than Kshs. 2100 MPESA balance in applicants MPESA account.
• A functional email address.

Before commencing a KMTC online application, the applicant must first register or create a student portal account at the KMTC website. KMTC student account creation can be done using a smart phone or a computer that is connected to the internet.

Procedure for creating a KMTC student portal account.

Step 1

Open the chrome browser in your mobile phone/ computer and on the search area, type https://kmtc.ac.ke/

Step 2

click the menu (3 dashes on the top far left), ‘click how to apply’, under admissions. On the page that appears, click ‘go to application portal.’

Step 3

If you already have an account, you can log in. if you do not have one, go to the top right menu in the dashboard that appears, (the 3 dashes on the top right) and select ‘register.’ If you are planning to go direct in this article, simply click here.

Step 4

Key in the required details i.e. name, e-mail address and password, then click ‘register.’ Remember to choose a password that you can easily recall.

A KMTC applicants portal appears. Fill all your personal information in the required fields then click ‘next.’

In the next page, fill your contact details correctly, then click ‘next.’ The next page prompts you to fill the details of your next of kin. If you are legally married, your wife can be your next of kin but if not, you can enter the details of one of your parents/guardian who is alive or your siblings and declare the relationship. Click submit.

A dashboard appears which informs you that you have created you account successfully.

Garissa KMTC Branch has two branch campuses currently: Upper Garissa KMTC Branch Campus, located very close to the County Teaching and Referral Hospital of Garissa and the Lower Garissa KMTC Branch Campus, located proximal to the prison. Embu KMTC Branch was established in the year 1975 by the British missionaries as Embu Health Training College. It was not until 1987 that KMTC assumed the management of the college from sister Barry and baptized it as Embu KMTC Branch.

Eldoret KMTC Branch was started in the year 1977 to offer a diploma course in training Kenya Enrolled Community Health Nursing.

Ten years later, Eldoret KMTC Branch introduced the school of hospital maintenance, under support from the governments of Austria and Germany. This had a limited intake 12 Eldoret KMTC Branch students per intake.

In the beginning of 1991, introduced an upgrade diploma course in Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing, stopping the delivery of the certificate programme. This increased the intake at Eldoret KMTC Branch from 15 to 30 new students.

In late 1996, Nursing school and the school of Hospital Maintenance came together and formed what is today popularly known as Eldoret KMTC Branch.

Towards the end of 2003, Eldoret KMTC Branch replaced the Certificate programme in Medical Engineering to upgrade Diploma course in medical engineering. This saw the number of student intake in the course double.

By the end of 2003, a Diploma course in Clinical Medicine had picked at Eldoret KMTC Branch, with more than 50 learners.

Chwele KMTC Branch was established in the year 2014 to offer certificate course in health records and information technology. The first cohort of students for the course were admitted in September 2014.

Towards the end of 2017, Chwele KMTC Branch introduced an upgrade Diploma in Health Records and Information Technology. This course of 48 months allowed all those who had pursued the course at certificate level at Chwele KMTC Branch or any other KMTC to upgrade it to diploma.
